CenturyLink and Quantum Fiber are disreputable in my opinion. I lost my emails 2 years ago with them when they added 2 factor ID. The phone and web site support was abysmal. In July 2025 I was able to get tech support to fix my account. I had signed up for $65 for life which didn’t go over well and coincidentally my internet speed dropped to unusable after that. I called CenturyLink for support and techs arrived. They mentioned they were from Quantum Fiber which I thought was CenturyLink’s maintenance. They insisted on replacing the modem/router which I said was unnecessary. Then they demanded payment even when I told them I had paid 2 weeks prior. I didn’t see the fee for my VISA and reluctantly signed. I called CenturyLink and they WOULD NOT tell me why they scheduled me for a plan change instead of service on the existing modem. They closed my CenturyLink account and they kept switching me to Quantum Fiber and both refused to answer my questions as to why they switched.
After slightly more than three years of continuous 940Gb/s service, performace with regard to speed continues to be as advertised. The equipment installed has functioned without any problems, need of replacement, or rebooting (except for a firmware update). Technicians were competent, fully prepared. Installation (including a 980M run from the house to their equipment box a via a pre-dug trench) took 3-4 hours. Technical support humans were easy to reach and provided the PPoE authentication information when requested.
Has to be the most unprofessional & incompetent company that I have ever done business with. There may be some smart people that work there, unfortunately I have never comes across one. There should be laws and regulations that require a minimal acceptable level of competency for a company relying on public property and right-of-ways to provide their service.
